Literature Talk: A Dolls House by Henrik Ibsen

It is hard today to appreciate the shock that swept through British theatre when Ibsen’s play was first performed in London in the 1880s. To have one character dying of venereal disease and a wife walking out on her highly respectable husband, slamming the door…well!!! Too much for the Victorians but perhaps really refreshing for our theatre.

Film: A Doll’s House (1973, PG, 95 mins)
Directed by Patrick Garland and starring Claire Bloom and Anthony Hopkins.

Tickets: Talk only £6.50 / Talk & Film £10

Please note, this month’s talk takes place in the Auditorium while the film will be screened in The Room Upstairs
