The Lyric Lounge is a vibrant spoken word festival bringing international artists to share the stage with local participants and young performers in a celebration of lyrical prose, music and rhyme and today it returns to the Drill Hall as part of its East Midlands tour to celebrate the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. So come and work on your writing skills with workshops all day from top class poets and performers or get up on the friendliest of open mics! In the evening sit back and enjoy a specially produced show featuring Upstage Left’s Writers collective and young people from the Lincoln Youth Slam Group. We can also confirm that Dizraeli and the Small Gods will be appearing – mixing many different musical styles including beatboxing, rapping, poetry and folk music there really is something for everyone!
We regret to anounce that the Lyric Lounge patron, international artist and poet Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze will not be attending due to illness and we’d like to wish her a speedy recovery.
