Join Dr Mackay as she explores D.H.Lawrence’s ‘The Virgin and the Gypsy’. A short story very significant in the trace of Lawrence’s work. He is drawing on the catastrophe that happened to his wife’s daughters after she had to leave them behind in England. Hugely autobiographical but also an imaginative rendering of the effects of religious repression on youthful longing for experience.
