Philosophy Cafe

Saturday 24 February, 2.30pm


Uplifting and inspiring, challenging and rewarding, join us for our monthly afternoons of informal discussion and conversation.

The sessions begin at 2.30pm in the cafe bar and last for approximately 2hrs. There’s no need to purchase a ticket – the event is free! However the purchase of a hot drink would be appreciated by the Drill Hall in exchange for the free use of a private room.


26th January – To what extent is discrimination still a cancer in our society?
23rd February – Women’s role in society changeth not!
30th March – What role for religion in today’s society?
27th April – Who defines our needs and wants and dreams?
18th May – How far can we experience empowerment in our lives?
22nd June – Is honesty a lost value in our society?
20th July – Does formal education really equip us for our adult roles?
31st August – Abortion, euthanasia and suicide – a human right to self-determination?
28th September – What makes a just society?
26th October – Is ‘free will’ an illusion?
30th November – Is education still the controlling tool of the ruling class?
December – no meeting

Please note that all the above ‘Workshops’ are held on the 4th Saturday of each month with the following exceptions:-

18th May (3rd Saturday)
22nd June (3rd Saturday)
20th July (3rd Saturday)
