Our Year So Far!

Looking back and looking forward

The Summer does not feel like it is ever going to ever end, but with Autumn about to pounce we thought it might be a good time to reflect on the year we have had so far. We have had some wonderful acts come to us already this year, with a shed-load of internationally recognised stars to follow. We hope you join us for the ride, for the rest of the year.

Highlights so far

At the Drill Hall we pride ourselves  on the incredible broad, inclusive and excellent programming of events. We have had a beautiful concoction of comedy, music, theatre, dance and family shows. Some of our personal favourites, and we are sure yours too, have been Tom Allen, Griff Rhys Jones, The Damned United, Showaddywaddy, Benjamin Zephaniah and Les Miserables. That these are just some of our acts this year is credit to our mind-blowing programming team here.

What we have to come

Theatre

We are trying something new this Autumn. For the majority of our theatre this season we have a ‘Pay what you feel’ policy. We want people of all backgrounds to have access to the best theatre in Lincoln, and to try something new. It means you can book a ticket without making any payment, then decide after the show what you think it’s worth. What more could you want?

The shows that will be included in this are The Flop, Re:Production, User Not Found, A Thing Mislaid, He Ain’t Heavy.

If you click on the links on the shows you can find out more and book your tickets. Be sure to book early to guarantee the seats you want.

Music

We are delighted to announce a bold and broad selection of musical acts this coming Autumn. From folk, to world, to rock music- we have it all visiting us very soon. We have the return of Jack Broadbent, a local lad who has gone on to huge things who wowed a sold-out crowd last year. Adam Holmes and the Embers whose emerging career as a folk musician is going from strength to strength returns too, and Seby Ntege, who is working with local schools for our LOV EVOLVE programme and then performing himself.

Stolen Fridays will be with us in November. This is a gig we are especially proud of, as it came from you, our friends and followers. We asked on Facebook for the shows you would love to see- and these guys were one of your favourites!

Last, and by no means least, we are delighted to say that the Drill Hall has host the one Proms Concert outside London this year! Proms… at Lincoln Drill Hall: The Soldier’s Tale was an astonishing display of some of the world’s finest classical musicians.

Comedy

As with every season we search the UK for the biggest names in stand-up comedy. This season is no different. We have household names like Seann Walsh, Marcus Brigstocke, Dr Phil Hammond, Jason Byrne, Gary Delaney and, of course, our regular Red Herring Comedy Club Nights!

All the acts are a part of our season ticket. This has the potential to save you 25% on your price of tickets!

Panto

After the triumph of our 10 year anniversary panto of Beauty and the Beast, JM Productions return with Peter Pan, which promises to be our biggest and best!

Back by popular demand is everyone’s favourite Dame, James Campbell, and with colourful costumes, amazing sets and effects, hilarious song and dance routines. With more jokes than all the treasure in Captain Hook’s hold, this is one madcap adventure your family won’t want to miss! Bring the whole family for our Christmas extravaganza. Book now- you will not regret it!
